FRiday Reports
Well, we made it another week!
I have been very impressed with the progress of many of the students. You will be able to see your child's progress on the progress report we are sending home. Keep in mind that progress reports are never 100% accurate as we have classes that have sections taken out based upon pretesting scores. For example, if Sally pretested out of 20% of her class, the first week she worked in the class will show that 20% as work completed when in reality, it was taken out. Over time, the reports will become more accurate. If you need clarification, please call or email Mrs. Wilga (548-3426 or [email protected]). Next Monday is picture day. Students are not obligated to purchase anything to receive id's. Also on Monday, Mrs. Wilga and I will be going to the Sherman Lake YMCA after school and any student that would like to go with us is welcome to (as long as we have room in our cars). The cost is $5 per person/visit. Students are responsible for their own rides home. (Just a note...this is half of what it normally costs to visit. I am extremely appreciative of the Y to extent such a discount to our staff and students!) Tuesday we start art class for those who need fine art/visual credit to graduate. Wednesday at 12:30 we are extremely excited to present the Bird of Prey program to our students and family/friends. Check out their website for more information: http://www.raptorcenter.org/programs.asp Thursday we will be taking those interested to the SPCA and we also have counseling. Friday students in our technology group will be returning to the Richland Area Community Center to assist those technologically challenged :) As you can see, our days are becoming filled. It is so important for students to be here every day so they can benefit from all the services we offer. In addition, attendance matters....I mean, does your boss mind if you miss multiple days of work? If we are to prepare students for life after high school, then it's time we let them know the expectations they will be facing. Have a great weekend and don't hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance.

Happy Friday!!!
Four days down, only 176 left to go. Many papers were sent home this week and I need to get them back asap....especially the ones that go to food services. The kids and staff are settling in and finding rhythm in our days. Today, we had a group go to the Richland Area Community Center (RACC): Nick, Michael, Austin, Kayla, Rhett, and Dwight. I heard that they did an incredible job and I'm really proud of them. We will have pictures on our website as soon as Mrs. Wilga has time to post them. Upcoming events include: school pictures on the 19th, art class starting on the 20th, the Bird of Prey Raptor Program visiting our school on the 21st at 12:30 (parents and siblings are invited to attend. Art class will be starting), and will will continue to have counseling on Thursdays. Thank you for trusting us with your child. We will do our best to meet his/her needs. Please don't hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance. Lynnette Walker Gull Lake Gateway Academy 269-548-3425 Education is Never as Expensive as Ignorance |
