Good Friday...It really is Good Friday, isn't it!!
For the past few years, the State of Michigan has required all eleventh grade students to take the ACT as a part of the Michigan Merit Examination. However, last year the College Board was awarded the contract to provide the college aptitude test for the State of Michigan. This means that the SAT will replace the ACT as the college readiness exam for all Michigan juniors. In addition, the State has mandated that all freshmen take the PSAT 9 and that all sophomores take the PSAT 10. ALL TESTING WILL BE DONE AT GATEWAY. Please be advised that the State’s chosen dates for these tests are April 12, April 13, and April 14. The Schedule for these days is as follows: April 12: SAT- Juniors need to arrive by 7:30 am. The check-in process will begin promptly at 7:30 am followed by pretesting activities. The test will begin at 8:00 am sharp. Lateness may result in required make-up testing. The total test time is approximately four and a half hours. . No student will leave early from the testing room for any reason. The College Board requires all students to remain in the testing room for the allotted testing time. Breaks are scheduled and will be given at varying intervals throughout the test.
April 13: ACT Work Keys for Juniors/PSAT 9 and PSAT 10 for Freshmen and Sophomores. Once again, juniors should report to their testing rooms by 7:30 am. Testing will begin at8:00 am sharp. Freshmen and sophomores will also report to their testing rooms at 7:30 am. April 14: Science and Social Studies M-STEP Testing for Juniors/Freshmen and Sophomores Standardized Testing Practice and Academic Support: Juniors will once again report to their testing rooms at 7:30 am with testing scheduled to start at 7:45 AM.
All Gateway students are expected to come to school each day as those who are not testing will still be able to work. WE DO NOT FOLLOW THE SAME ATTENDANCE SCHEDULE AS THE HIGH SCHOOL, ONLY THE TESTING SCHEDULE.
On Monday, all students testing will be pre-iding: This will happen at Gateway.
Next week is a four day week, with spring break starting on Friday. All students will be able to work from home during break.
Progress reports will be sent home today.
One more thing, some of the students are not riding the morning bus from the high school to Gateway and are being dropped off at Gateway by their friends. I cannot make students ride the bus but please know that if an accident were to happen, the district is not responsible or liable for any damages.
